The Empowering Value of Purpose

“When you’re surrounded by people who share a passionate commitment around a common purpose, anything is possible.”
Howard Schultz

The saying “It takes teamwork to make the dream work is true” individuals united behind a common purpose is difficult to beat. What is true of a team is true for everyone; there must be a stated purpose for achievement to be possible.

Every person is born for a purpose and is wired to succeed in life by effectively stewarding their gifts and talents. Every human being is born to lead in some capacity; we are all wired to succeed, whether leading our own life, a family, a small business, or a fortune 500 company.

Every person naturally desires to accomplish something significant and leave an inspiring legacy. The most natural thing you can do to achieve something significant in life is to follow your heart, which begins in childhood. Every child will have a dream about their future; unfortunately,  only a percentage get to live theirs out.

Your Purpose is Your Life

Myles Munroe said, “…For a human being to know and understand what they are born to accomplish is the key to life. The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose.”

John C Maxwell always remained true to his purpose; in speaking about purpose, he stated, “I’ve always dreamed of impacting the world and changing lives one at a time. I’ve stayed a student of personal growth and development.

Why? Because I believe it has the power to change us individually, connect communities, be a catalyst to corporations, and transform countries around the world. You see, my passion in life is growing and equipping others to do remarkable things and lead significant and fulfilled lives.” (1)

A lack of purpose and unfulfilled potential is common in today’s society. You were born to fulfill a purpose, and no one else has the gifts, talents, and experience you bring to the table. Make a quality decision to relentlessly pursue your purpose, and do not stop until you’re clear on why you are on this earth.

Vision is Sight Beholding the Future

Vision is the ability to see farther than your physical eyes can see, to not only see what is but also to see what can be and to make it a reality. Take a look around you for a moment, and look at each of the items and objects in front of you (cell phone, computer, car, etc.). These items were someone else’s vision brought into the world for the benefit of humanity. Never allow the difficulties and circumstances around you to get in the way of your vision and purpose, the world needs what you’re carrying.

My partner Chad Reyes often advises that you should “Always make your purpose bigger than Your problems,” and how often we see the reverse played out in the lives of gifted and talented people. People who are unclear about their purpose can be distracted and frustrated by life’s many challenges and setbacks.

In my own life, I have found that the less I focus on the problems and the more I focus on my purpose, the problems do not pose half the challenges I thought they would. The truth is what we focus on is magnified in our thinking, so, if you focus on your purpose, your mind will magnify the opportunities that lie before you.

In Closing, Robert Byrne aptly stated, “The purpose of life is a life of purpose.” I could not have said it any better!
